5.0 out of 5 starsBrilliant!

ByMrs. TL Dawsonon 24 April 2014

I originally bought this to shore up my Achilles, which I injured a year ago running. It made a real difference straight away.

Then recently I hurt my shoulder throwing something heavy into a skip. Hurt it properly - unable to touch my nose with my left hand, unable to brush my hair, pick anything up from the floor, etc. Properly crippled, & I am normally extremely active & not easy to sideline. After 2 days of being unable to do anything, & after 2 sleepless nights because of the pain, it occurred to me to try the iheal. That morning, I was still totally crippled, stuck the iheal on & by lunchtime it had eased a lot & by the afternoon, it was pretty well there. I took it off, put it back on last thing at night & the next day it was all systems go again. Nothing short of a miracle as I was thinking I might have done myself a proper mischief.

The latest thing I've tried it on is my back. I've ridden for 40 years & did a cross country training day at the w'end which involved a lot of jumping. Since then, I've had sciatica which has been mild but annoying & enough to keep me awake for the last few nights. Tried the iheal, not expecting much as tbh it's probably my battered old discs giving out...and slept through the night. One side (the side I put it on) is dramatically better today, so I'm trying it on the other side.

I really feel that this is going to extend my useful sporting career quite considerably, and shore up my decent down the slippery slope of physical decay!

Absolutely nothing wrong with the operation of the gadget but, no obvious improvement. Having said that, it is a very well made and neat device. I still believe that the theory is correct, just my requirements that were perhaps inappropriate for the gadget.

4.0 out of 5 starsGreat investment for pain management

ByR. WallaceVINE VOICEon 7 November 2011

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

Before writing this review I had a quick scan of the other comments made on the HoMedics Pulse (and its efficacy) and must say that I firmly side with those who lean towards the positives. Chronic pain can be totally disruptive and there are so many products in the marketplace that simply do not deliver anywhere near what they say on the tin. With me it is a regular occurring and incredibly frustrating neck pain caused by damage to the vertebrae in a diving accident and one which causes the muscles of my shoulder to spasm at the slightest strain!

Well, I have to say that straight out of the box, on to the affected area, then left there overnight for 3 days on the trot, I was surprised by the results - greater movement, mobility, much improved pain management and best of all I could actually feel that my shoulder muscles had "softened", or relaxed to be more precise. I disagree with some reviewers when they state the need to change the adhesive strips every time the unit is applied. For me, one strip lasts at least three applications and every morning she is still there flashing away and despite me being a very fidgety sleeper. No, the Pulse has not "cured" the underlying issue (as yet) but produces an effect akin to spending 20-30 minutes with a skilled physiotherapist (and at a fraction of the cost) and of course is drug free. Everything has a certain "placebo" effect and I'm sure it does no harm in knowing that the device is constantly pumping those "magnetic energy waves" deep into my cells, but despite being a natural sceptic all I can say is that it has definitely helped me, best of all being that fact that it can be applied when sleeping, a period when the body itself instigates the natural healing process.

I'm always ultra hesitant to recommend anything with such a broad spectrum claim but this little unobtrusive device (can easily be worn anywhere and at anytime) is one that I will continue to use and monitor progress. Two weeks of daily use and I can feel the difference especially in respect of an unwinding of those taught, stressed and strained muscle problems so many of us fall victim to. Has to be an alternative worth trying for anyone having to resort to the daily dose of pain-killers or the not so cheap visits to therapists!

5.0 out of 5 starsWORKED FOR ME!

ByMiss KTOP 500 REVIEWERVINE VOICEon 7 November 2011

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

I've had lower back pain for the past few months and tried all the usual: painkillers and topical pain relief as well as heat belts, wraps and wheat bags. Although most of these provided temporary relief, the problem was just that: it was temporary. I was extremely keen to try the iheal device: it promises up to 30% faster healing, which sounded good to me - anything that can actually HEAL rather than just mask pain, must be good!

I've uploaded pics to show you everything you get in the box: you get a wrist strap and 48 adhesive hypoallergenic patches which I'm happy to report DIDN'T cause any kind of reaction on my skin, whatsoever (anything with a sticky back, like band-aids, usually always give me a bad reaction). The replacements are around £10-£12 for 48 patches and you can now usually find them on Amazon (which I'm pleased about as I found the Homedics website to be quite problematic) The patches are a bit pricey but you can usually get away with using the same patch for 2-3 days if you have the extra security of fitted clothing to hold the device in place. The batteries come ready-installed in the device (2x CR2025) and you can buy replacements for around £2-£3 for 12 on Amazon.

Admittedly 'Pulse Electro Magnetic Field' (PEMF) technology sounded a bit scary to me but I didn't notice anything while wearing it - no pulsing and no scary sounds being emitted from the device. There's a flashing green LED to confirm the device is on and working and that's about it. The device works in an accumulative way so you need to wear this for at least 4 hours a day (and up to 10 hours if possible). It's pretty discreet (depending on where you're wearing the device) and the adhesive patches are strong enough to stay put.

When I originally wrote this review, I had been using the device for 2 weeks and had seen an improvement: for the first time in ages, I actually felt like my lower back pain has started to improve. Everyone keeps mentioning the placebo effect and yes that's what it could be (I think it's working, therefore it's working). Admittedly I was desperate for something to help my back but at the same time I've always been a bit cynical when it comes to things promising to heal pain, whether it's a device or some kind of alternative remedy. I'm glad I tried it though and I have carried on using it intermittently, as and when needed (I've now had the device for 10 months!) Whether or not the device will work to actually heal more severe arthritic conditions, I don't know - but I do know it's helped my back. It's a bit of a pricey investment but I would recommend it to anyone to atleast give it a try - I've felt a real benefit from wearing the device for about 6 hours a day and it's a small price to pay for freedom from pain.

5.0 out of 5 starsReally good for pain management

Bysongrighton 4 August 2014

Verified Purchase

I am not really able to comment on the 'tissue and cell repair', but as a pain management solution, it is excellent. I don't really know how or why it is so good at relieving pain but the unit is truly excellent at numbing nerve pain (eg sciatica) or general muscular pain. I have even found tremendous relief using it to manage pain from costochondritis. When it is on the skin, there are no noticeable effects, no contraction/stimulation like TENS or uncomfortable feelings. You wouldn't even really know that the device is there. The unit is really small - it would fit easily within the scoop of a dessert spoon - and the battery life is quite good. Although it's not waterproof, I've even left it on accidentally in the shower and it survived! I'd recommend trying hard to remember not to wear in the shower!

The down side has to be the sticky pads as they are relatively expensive. They must be applied to clean, dry and not very hairy skin otherwise they risk falling off or not sticking well in the first place. I've never needed to use the wrist strap but having something similar but a bit larger would have been a better option. Changing the batter is a bit fiddly too as you have to unscrew the back with the provided screwdriver and then proceed with changing the two batteries.

Overall, I'd highly recommend this product which for me was particularly good for pain management. It is small, portable and discreet, and the only negative points are the costs associated with replacement sticky pads and the fiddly way of changing the battery.

4.0 out of 5 starsA healing pulse...

BytechpuppyTOP 100 REVIEWERon 27 October 2011

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

Probably the most important thing to understand about the iHeal is that it's not a TENS machine offering instant temporary relief from pain - it works on a different principle, aiming to speed natural healing and offer pain relief over a longer period. The same technology is used to cure lameness in racehorses! It's probably quite difficult to explain Pulse Electromagnetic Field Therapy to horses and convince them it's going to help their ailments, so I guess we can rule out a placebo effect?

The iHeal is very small, about the size of a large walnut, and is held in place quite securely by the double-sided stickers included - you get 48 of these but they're definitely one-use only and you'll have to buy more direct from HoMedics later or find another way to secure the iHeal to the affected area. The batteries are CR2025 coin-shaped style and are available quite cheaply from Amazon - each set of two batteries will last for about 200 hours of use.

In truth, this little gizmo couldn't get here quick enough - I've recently been working on my computer away from my normal desk and it's played havoc with my shoulder, causing extreme pain some days. Using the iHeal does seem to have helped, although it's always difficult to be sure as many things tend to get better by themselves. I've only experienced side-effects on one day when I forgot it was there and left it on for about 12 hours (the maximum recommended session is 10 hours) and felt a very slight ache, which disappeared as soon as the device was removed. I have found my shoulder was notably more comfortable while I was using the iHeal and would then stiffen up and get painful again overnight. It wasn't a dramatic improvement, but it was noticeable and the shoulder's now much better. If I was suffering longer term chronic pain it might be easier to judge how effective the unit is, but my results have to be encouraging.

UPDATE: I've had the iHeal for some time now and continue to use it whenever I get any annoying ache or pain and it seems to help every time. The iHeal Replacement Patches are now available from Amazon but they are a bit pricey - some other reviewers have suggested using something like Micropore Surgical Tape as an alternative and that makes a lot of sense.

3.0 out of 5 starsA Help for Some not Others...

ByEugene OneginTOP 1000 REVIEWERVINE VOICEon 7 December 2011

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

It is quite difficult to review a product like this as everything depends on the exact condition you are trying to treat and the reaction of the individual patient to the magnetic wave approach. On a practical level before you buy the product you should be aware that it is tiny-no bigger than the size of a man's wristwatch and requires a battery which will need fairly frequent replacement. The most serious drawback in using the device is the strap and stickers provided to affix it to the affected area-the strap is too small to use on areas other than the wrist or similar and the stickers can adhere efficiently or fall off quite quickly if you are someone who, for example, is a restless sleeper and you choose to wear it overnight. Best results are likely to be achieved not so much in instant pain relief, but in speeding up healing time for soft tissue injuries or intense pain in a very focussed area like a finger or foot. I am less convinced that sufferers of chronic conditions like athritis or back pain which is manifest over a wider area will see the same degree of benefit. But, as always with this kind of thing some individuals may find this works for them perfectly. Certainly a wider range of straps should be supplied to improve the useability of the unit.

4.0 out of 5 starsHelps rather than cures but beware of customer service

ByRebecca Malcolmon 20 April 2014

This device has definitely proved helpful, but I wouldn't say it had cured the pain I feel (in my knee). I have used it for continuous periods on and off for the last 16 months and my knee has not got totally better, but do notice when I'm not able to use it for any length of time for any reason that my knee starts to play up more.
One of the downsides in terms of the device is that it is not very comfy to use at night.
However, the biggest drawback I've had so far was the issue I had with the customer service. My strap broke and I had to go back to them at least 3 times to get a replacement one sent to me for free, even though I was within the 2 year guarantee period. They were very polite every time, and quick to get back to me, but I don't think I should have had to fight so hard.

4.0 out of 5 starsA tiny pain easing device with surprising results

ByKevin TrebellTOP 1000 REVIEWERVINE VOICEon 26 October 2011

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

This tiny device is designed to help ease the pain and provide relief and healing from a host of conditions like Tendonitis, Muscle Pains, Arthritis etc.

I must admit to be being no great expert on these things but I had wondered if it worked like the well known "Tens" machines which are a proven technology but apprently that's not the case. The Iheal website states that it works as follows:

"The iHeal produces a very specific and focused form of PEMF wave (Pulsed Electro Magnetic Field wave) which penetrates deep into the body. This wave type (shape, frequency and power) produces several critically important benefits for the area of the body that is being treated.

When this type of PEMF wave passes through any conductive material, such as the tissue cells of the human body, it generates a tiny electrical 'charge' (voltage difference) between the cells that are being treated; this causes an increase in cellular communication and activity. Because the tissue salts in our body all carry an electrical charge, the PEMF wave causes an increase in the movement of these vital tissue salts, and oxygen, in and between the cells, which has the effect of increasing the performance of the cells in the treated area. The treated cells regenerate and repair quicker, up to 30% faster than normal (according to clinical studies* on PEMF).

The type of PEMF wave that the iHeal produces also causes a significant arteriole vasodilatation (arterial dilation) in the treated area, which provides an all important increase in blood supply, which helps to rapidly reduce inflammation and speeds up regeneration of damaged cells."

Apparently this differs from Tens machines:

"TENS machines and other micro electric current therapy devices only block pain, however the iHeal promotes rapid healing of the damaged tissues at a cellular level whilst simultaneously reducing pain and inflammation"

To the layman like me though a healing device using electrical pulses to stimulate healing seems very similar.

The device itself is very small and easy to use. You simply wear it over the area that you wish to treat and leave it on for several hours. It is either worn via a strap over your limbs or via adhesive patches for sticking to other parts of your bodies (you can buy additional supplies of these from Iheal but it comes witha fair few).

I've suffered arthritic pain in my neck and shoulders for some time and it has been getting worse again of late as the weather gets colder and damper, making this and ideal time to test this device.

I stuck the device over an area of my upper back at the base of the neck and then kept it there for a couple of days. At first I didn't notice any effect at all and I soon forgot I was wearing it. By the second day though I was pleased to find that the pain in the area I was wearing it had eased up. I can't say for sure if this is definitely the result of wearing the iheal, or if it is something of a placebo making me think it was better as I thought something was healing it. All I can say is that the pain definitely eased.

I will be wearing this over different parts of of my neck and shoulders over the coming weeks to get a better idea but at this stage it seems safe to recommend it as definitely being worth a try if you're look for an alternative treatment and trying an alternative to painkillers.

3.0 out of 5 starsNot a miracle cure

ByAmazon Customeron 17 September 2013

I think that people should lower their expectations for this device. Like a lot of medical aids it might or might not help. The theory of Pulse Electromagnetic Field Therapy is sound and their is evidence that it works. I'm using it for my knee and I think it helps but not dramatically. On the other hand it does say its purpose is to speed up natural recovery and that's all. Like others I use tape or an elastic bandage to hold it in place. I'm guessing that it is not really very powerful and that is why it says you have to place the metal stud that presumably focuses the pulse directly over the problem area. I bought it because I know that PEMF can help but I'm not sure about the required power output needed. I just have to hope it is helping with the natural recovery.

3.0 out of 5 starshomedic

ByD. H. W. Marshallon 2 September 2013

Pulsed Magnetic Therapy has been of great benefit to me. I use it to combat pains in wrist and hands, so I wear it on my wrist, just like a watch. BUT I have found that after a few weeks the screws to the battery compartment have completely rusted up, due to perspiration. This makes it impossible to change the batteries. I had to break the lid to the battery compartment in order to put new batteries in.
This a a major fault with such a relatively expensive device which could be avoided by using stainless steel screws or designing a back that could just be twisted on and off.
A good device spoiled by a lack of foresight!!

4.0 out of 5 starsSurprisingly effective device.

ByJennion 28 May 2013

Verified Purchase

I bought this device, with some doubts, I admit, to try to help the symptoms of chronic Achilles tendinitis, which I 've had for years. I wear prescription insoles, I've had courses of physiotherapy, but I still find that anytime I try to up my exercise levels meaningfully, I set it off again and end up limping and in pain. Damaged tendons are right in the area research suggests PEMF could be effective for, so when the iHeal came up on a daily deal, I decided to give it a go.

A month in, after wearing it daily (alternating left and right ankles) I have to say I'm really surprised- it does seem to be having an effect. It has noticeably reduced the amount of discomfort my ankles cause during the day, and also the amount of stiffness I feel in the mornings. I think it really is worth a try for achy and inflamed tendons.

The unit is neat and I'm using the supplied wrist strap to attach it - I haven't tried the stick-on patches at all, so can't comment on them. I'm still on the first battery too, so no complaints about that either. Wearing it took a little getting used to as the metal nub that touches the skin sticks in a bit (probably less so if you use the stickers) but it didn't take long to get over that.

Overall, I rate it. Cheaper and easier than physio and seems as effective for my dodgy Achilles. Worth a try.

5.0 out of 5 starsget a tubi grip and a bandage and give it a go....

ByPMon 16 November 2014

reviewers score this device down because of the accessories - suspect the manufacturer experience some difficulty designing something that helps the device be fixed in place to any given part of your anatomy. I would suggest people buy themselves a tubi-grip bandage and or strap of some sort to the keep the device in place. The stickies are never going to keep it in place - so some common sense should be applied after purchasing. I use the device for muscle injuries and I believe this thing does work and has helped me recover quicker from tendon and muscle strains. Got to be a good thing.,... good luck.

5.0 out of 5 starsI Heal cell repair unit

ByP. Matthewson 31 March 2015

I wasn't sure whether this would work but it does. I suffer from knee pin on the inside of my left knee and using it at night certainly decreased the discomfort. Having thin legs, I could use the supplied strap. Using the supplied sticky patches would be awkward owing to the position of the injury but there are others ways it could be attached. A little uncomfortable sleeping on one side, ok on the other. However by moving my legs it was OK. The flashing light telling you that it is on, is quite eerie if you have to get up in the night!! But yes, overall it has helped and II would recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 starsEncouraging early results

ByCartimandTOP 1000 REVIEWERVINE VOICEon 23 October 2011

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

This tiny device - around the size of a lady's wristwatch, came well-packaged and by next-day delivery. Suffering from chronic knee pain following a sports injury and subsequent operation, I was keen to try it. The elastic strap supplied is far too short to be of much use, so I used one of the double-sided hypoallergenic patches supplied to fix it onto my knee. The small size of the device means I can wear it quite unobtrusively under my trousers and the patch kept it fully secure whilst walking or driving. After the first session of 4 hours, I felt nothing. I then decided to try it overnight. After the second nightly session of around 6 hours, I felt a slight but not unwholesome aching sensation. On getting up this morning, my knee felt slightly less stiff and painful than usual. I'll grant you this may be down to some sort of placebo effect as, let's face it, I really want this to work! My lady has carpal tunnel syndrome and is keen to try it too. So, we'll both persist with the device and report back in a few weeks as to any long term beneficial effects.

Criticism? Well, as previously mentioned, the strap supplied is so short its use is very limited; if you use the patches to attach it overnight, it is easily dislodged if you roll over in your sleep; once you've used up the double-sided patches, you have to buy more through the company's web site (although an alternative is to slip the device under a neoprene knee strap to hold it in place) and it takes 2 moderately expensive lithium batteries, which will only provide the average user around a month's use. I've also noticed slight sleep disturbance if I wear the device overnight, but whether this is due to the electromagnetic pulses or to the physical sensation of having a walnut-sized lump stuck to my knee, I'm not sure.

Fingers crossed though; so far so good!

**** UPDATE ****

Well it's been almost a month now since I started using the iHeal and I am happy to report a modest but definite improvement in my knee condition. I even managed to play sports three evenings on the trot this week with very little pain or stiffness the next morning. Obviously I cannot expect this device to give me the knees of a 20 year old, but my knee now feels better than it has for a long time. I can unreservedly recommend the iHeal if you suffer from chronic knee pain and wish to remain active! The original batteries are still going strong too! At the time of writing, replacement hypoallergenic patches are still shown as out of stock on the homedics website but, as they will cost you a tenner for around 6 weeks' supply, you may wish to use a cheaper, alternative method of attaching the device (like that mentioned above or two small strips of surgical tape, which I tried last night and it worked fine).

I was not convinced such a tiny little device would be able to help my shoulder pain. I have a bad shoulder which is made much worse by playing netball, I wake most nights in pain and can't get back to sleep. I put the iHeal on during the day for about a week and all of a sudden I realised I wasn't being woken up with the pain and the results lasted a few days before I needed to use it again. I wore this device on the joint for up to 15 hours a day, and within four days I was able to use my hand again. Without it, the healing would have taken weeks. It is easy to use, and completely painless as a treatment. This device should be on the NHS! Every home should have one: I give it a 100% recommendation.

At first glance you wouldnt think that this inocuous wee device will deliver - however size is deceptive. I have suffered from a sciatic problem due to horseriding for a number of years and relied on medication of all kinds...and even though i am often sceptical about devices which make claims such as these..I have to say i am very pleasantly surprised that within a week or so of use my back is much better.

I would recommend that anyone suffering from aches and pains which are chronic give this a try.

However, it is working well for my husband who has arthritic joints in his hands, but cannot help my painful knee.

4.0 out of 5 starsHelpful for cramps, pain and discomfort.

ByS. LumleyVINE VOICEon 26 January 2012

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

I am very interested in holistic therapies and would far rather use a device like this for aches and pains instead of painkillers. So - since taking steroids I can get incredible neuropathy in my hands and horrid cramping in my arms and legs. Using the HoMedics Pulse unit was really easy and I found that it did help alleviate the pain. It was also helpful for tense neck / shoulders. I found it needed to be on the area for at least a couple of hours and preferably a lot longer. Relief was not as long lasting as I'd hoped. However it is easy to use, being small and compact, with sticky pads that help it stay in place. On occasions I'd forgotten I was wearing it and thankfully it is pretty unobtrusive too. I've been using it on and off for more than 2 months now and I would definitely recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 starsIt really does work!

As a long-term sufferer of RSI, who has regular flare-ups, I've only had it a few days, but so far I've found this little gadget invaluable. It's minimising the recovery time when I'm in pain, and seems to be reducing the overall day-to-day aches, cramping and swelling in my arm.

The adhesive pads for sticking the unit to your skin are very good - they hold firmly but don't leave sticky behind, or feel like you're ripping your skin off when you remove them.

My advice to anyone thinking of trying this would be to give it a go.

5.0 out of 5 starsWorked very quickly in reducing pain levels!

ByThat guy...on 29 December 2013

I purchased this item after remembering that several years ago, a physiotherapy session in hospital, used a similar pulsed-EMF technology, which worked very well - but for whatever reason, the hospitals stopped using. Within just a few hours of wearing the iHeal directly over the pain site (pro-lapsed disc), the pain levels dropped very quickly, and I'm now taking far less than a quarter of the amount of high dosage painkillers, that I had to take previously...
VERY HAPPY with this device and happy to recommend to others! :-)

4.0 out of 5 starsWell made and comfortable to use.

I bought this unit in desperation due to considerable pain as a result of sciatica, it attaches easily and even though the base of the spine is not an easy area to adhere to, the unit stayed put with the supplied sticky pads and was certainly not uncomfortable due to it's tiny size.
As to how effective it is, well I think it's too early to tell at this point, all I can say is the unit is well made, easy to use and seems to stick where you put it, I wore it in bed all night and felt no discomfort even though I was sleeping on my back, the unit did not dig in - in fact I forgot that I was wearing it until I started to get dressed in the morning.
I think that the unit probably requires to be worn for a period of time before any benefit is felt, unlike a TENS machine which you can feel immediately, there is no detectable sensation from this unit - I will continue to evaluate it over the next few weeks and see if there is any improvement - in fairness the instructions do not specifically mention sciatica as one of the ailments it benefits, however trying it can't do any harm and the pain killers from the docs don't seem to be helping much, so I'm up for trying anything which might help.
Well packaged, and with good clear instructions - seems a well made, quality item, and for that alone I'm awarding 4 stars.

4.0 out of 5 starsNot instant

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

I really wanted this for my missus. She has really bad arthritis and apart from taking 20 odd co-codamol per day (and metraxate and 5 other pills) nothing really helps, and the co-codamol doesn't really help at 3 in the morning.

However up to now it has been difficult to review this product as there is no instant 'relief' but it has certainly not made the arthritis pain worse. She (my missus) says that sometimes she thinks the pain is relieved by this i heal but at other times maybe not.

However I see from the amount of pills she takes and the looks of pain on her face that this has taken the worst off. Maybe she has gone from really really really bad to just really really bad, and for that I am grateful.

Arthritis sufferers know the depth of the pain. I can only guess. Maybe this i heal will help and maybe it won't. Given that nothing else works this is worth a try. Just do not expect magic.

Finally I would add that the customer service at iheal (homedics) is really good and they resolved a small problem I had with no problem.

5.0 out of 5 starsThis really works!

ByScilly Girlon 2 November 2011

I have suffered a strain in my hip (I think initially caused by running in trainers not suited to my gait) and using this product has helped to reduce the pain significantly. I usually use it while I sleep and it stays put all night, no problem.
I wish I'd used this when the problem first started as it probably would have knocked it on the head completely - lesson learned.
I've also used to treat 'knots' in my shoulder and shin splints.
I got pain in my shins after over-training and using this got me back running again much quicker than last time. I can't recommend highly enough.
I would say the sticky pads can be quite tricky to remove from the product but not really an issue, and the batteries are an unusual type but easy to find online and seem to last AGES so can't really complain!

It stays attached (to my sore shoulder) surprisingly well. Hard to say how effective it's been - it hasn't provided a miraculous cure yet, but my shoulder had been very painful for about 6 weeks prior to using the unit. After a few weeks of using the unit the shoulder is now a bit better, but hard to say whether this is due to the unit or due to semi-rest. Next time I have a similar injury, I'll use the unit right from the start.

5.0 out of 5 starsHas really helped control muscular pain

ByUKfanon 6 June 2015

I bought two of these in a recent Lightning Deal and have used one of them every night since - my sister is now using the other one.

While I can't vouch for how well this little unit might help with healing, it has certainly helped to control pain in my leg. I'm currently waiting for knee replacement and had been suffering from severe pain in the thigh above the knee. (I think it's called referred pain?) In the three weeks since I started using the iHeal overnight, I haven't once suffered from the sharp thigh pain either at night or during the day. The knee itself is too far gone for anything to help at the moment but I can see that the iHeal might also be helpful for controlling pain after surgery.

I've had no problems with the pads sticking to the skin and lasting overnight but once they're used up I'll probably switch to using microporous surgical tape, as apparently the new packs of pads from HoMedics now contain only 36 and cost the same as the previous packs containing 48!

For someone like me, with muscular pain in a place where the iHeal is unlikely to be dislodged overnight, this little gadget is about as perfect as it gets.

5.0 out of 5 starsHomedics magnotherapy

ByP. Baileyon 25 September 2012

Ok I have been using this now for about a month. I had to adjust the strap so it would fit to my fractured finger, this was easily done by sewing some velcro to the existing elastic strap. The machine is silent and quite small so can be worn discretely. I leave it on an hour at a time when I am watching tv or in the park. Its cheaper to buy this device than to get the treatment at physio therapy as the time spent in your session will be eroded by machine time. The point being the pain relief by tens machine and healing benefit of magnotherapy can be done at home and leave the physio therapy session for physio therapy.

Its early days for me but with all the treatments combined the swelling has gone down and on the road to recovery. Its impossible to say what contribution the device has made. That has to be taken on trust that the device is emitting as it should and that the physio therapist recommended the right treatments.

I am not in a position to say what would have happened if I hadn't used it.

The battery is still going strong and the product robust but the device is not expensive so any benefit however small is welcome.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

I have suffered from Sciatica and back pain for a number of years and in the past have used a tens machine for some relief, however I could only use it for short periods of time as the constant sensation was distracting and annoying. When I was offered the opportunity to road test this new machine I was eager to see if this was any better.

As soon as I opened the box I was impressed with how compact and small it was. It adheres to the skin using self-adhesive pads, of which 48 are included in the initial purchase. These pads can only be used once and are available to be bought directly from Homedics. If the unit is to be used on an arm, there is also a strap included to attach unit to arm instead of using a pad. I was keen to use the unit on my back and used the attached pads, I found it difficult to get the unit to stay attached to my back as it was being irritated by my trousers waistband and I did have to reapply it a few times during the time I had it attached (about 6 hours).

When I was using the unit I was able to forget it was there. Unlike the tens machine which has a constant sensation, the iheal emitted no sensation, the only way I knew it was working was when my husband commented that there was a flashing light under my top!

I used the unit for about a week and I did find that my back felt easier following the unit being used for a few days however it is not a permanent cure, it eased the discomfort.

I think that the device will be useful if my back pain became worse, and it offers short term relief however it is not a permanent cure.

I would recommend this for anyone who has localised discomfort but not for anyone who has numerous aches and pains.

This 'HoMedics iHeal Tissue and Cell Repair Unit' is as small as a wrist watch and when in place and switched on the tiny dot of a neon light pulses away like the seconds of time slowly carrying out the function it was designed for and in time giving the wearer the relief they desire. With its smallness of size, it just sits where you fit it for the advised length of time day or night without any inconvenience to the user thus is more likely to be tolerated by those who are normally uncomfortable at wearing helpful apparatus. I have found great relief for my carpel tunnel syndrome through using this as I have always expected slow progressive results rather than a fast cure. A good tip when buying this product is to also buy some extra 'Lithium Coin Batteries'. There are two people in my household who use these and we both recommend their purchase.

4.0 out of 5 starsPleasantly Surprised

ByMooerson 31 August 2012

I purchased this a few weeks ago on a lightening deal, as I have chronic tendonitis in my left ankle. It was a purchase born more of desperation than expectation, and I didn't expect it to do anything, but with daily usage over the last 4 weeks, I have been pleasantly surprised. My tendonitis is by no means cured, so don't expect miracles, but the lump of scar tissue I had on my left achilles has drastically reduced in size, and the stiffness in my ankle each morning is greatly improved.

If you do have tendonitis, I'd say it's worth a go. I was incredibly sceptical about this doing anything, but the pain in my ankle has been reduced from searing, to manageable, which after years of terrible pain, I'm thrilled with! I'll keep on with it, and update this review in a few months time to see if the improvement continues.

I can only comment from my own experience but I have been walking a lot this year to try and loose some weight. Moving on I thought I had done enough to start running but pushed myself a little fast and had really bad pain on my achilees tendon I decided to try this out. Using the strap provided I tied it roung my ankle and left it on overnight the next morning the pain had gone.
The pain came back during the day so put the unit back on and left on again the following night and again the pain had gone. There have been other instances where it has worked so I will keep using in the future as needed.
I've taken one star off due to the cost of replacement stickers.

I had been suffering repeated muscle tears in my left calf when running and despite several lay-offs of up to two weeks the calf always felt fragile. I read about the iheal in a national paper and decided to give it a go. I had just had another muscle tear and had not run for a couple of days. When the machine arrived it was extremely easy to use and fixed very firmly to my calf using the sticky patches supplied in the box. I used the iheal for four or five days for up to ten hours a day (the recommended maximum) and the calf felt better almost straight away. I have been back running for the past week and I have not felt even a twinge from my calf.
As far as I am concerned the little gadget really does work.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

I am a dyed in the wool sceptic so I was not expecting to write a positive review about this product. It's the sort of thing I've always wanted to try so when it became available on Amazon Vine I decided to give it a go.

It's a very small device - 38mm which is described as a "Pulse Electro-Magnetic Field therapy unit". The promotional material states that it is proven to work, but that wasn't backed up with a source or concrete data anywhere that I could find. So my natural scepticism was increased exponentially.

It comes with several sheets of adhesive pads that are used to attach the device to your body. These are easy to use, hygenic and really do hold it in place - even overnight. I have used it twice overnight when my wrist has been sore - I occasionally suffer from RSI and usually when my wrist becomes painful it lasts for several days. On both occasions that I have used this, I have woken in the morning pain-free. This suprises and delights me a great deal.

It's unobtrusive, doesn't in any way disturb sleep and once you have stuck it in place you forget it's there. There is a strap that can be used if you prefer, but really you don't need this. It doesn't vibrate, move or let you know it's there. At first I felt that this meant it wasn't doing anything at all, but the evidence seems to suggest otherwise.

I haven't used it on any other body part so I really can only comment for mild discomfort/pain related to RSI, but, as unscientific as this may be, I believe this product works!

I have to get up and do stretches at night and take pain killers. When I use this Homedics iHeal I get up less or sometimes sleep through being pain free. Which it was a bit bigger to cover a wider area and I misplace it all the time as it is so small. The sticky bit work sometimes but I just use normal tape which works just as good. Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

I was desperate for this little thing to arrive. I have constant neck and back issues, having suffered a severe fall off my pushbike a couple of years ago, and working on a computer all day, every day, I've lost count of the amount of stress / tension / muscular issues I have.

Now I'm not sure what kind of contribution the placebo effect would have - attaching with double sided sticky pads a little unit the size of a large conker to my shoulder didn't give me the feeling I was doing anything much - and for the first couple of days I didn't feel any different. But after that, it did seem to ease the tension I usually feel across my shoulders / neck. Overuse didn't give me the aches other reviewers have advised, but it wasn't often that I went over 8 hours in any one treatment "session". I didn't overcompensate for it being attached (ie adjusting posture etc) and overnight didn't feel any ill effects.

I would recommend this to most buyers, but it only comes with 48 sticky pads so if, like me, you will primarily be using this on body parts where the "wrist-sized" strap becomes irrelevant you will need to re-purchase the pads from HoMedics reasonably frequently. That aside, it is a nice little product, and ideal especially if you dislike using painkillers with any kind of regularity.

This small device arrived quickly from the supplier, and I have used it several times now to help alleviate my symptoms. I don't expect a 'cure all' for my particular injury but I have found it has helped to ease some of my symptoms and increased the feeling in my fingers after use. As to the problem others have noted of it not sticking and falling off, I haven't had a problem with it so far, I have had it placed in what I would have thought an awkward spot near my rotor cuff and even when moving around as normal it has started put. My experience of the product so far would lead me to recommend it to others.

There was no sensation just a flashing light....this can't work I thought until I realised the pain had gone. I am now on week 6 of treatment with an Osteopath and hand on heart I would say without my little black magic box I just wouldn't have coped as pain killers just didn't touch the nerve pain. I thought my mini tens machine was good but this surpasses all. Its effective, convenient and discreet a truly wonderful product.

For a few quid I thought it worth a try. Wore it constantly day and night for several weeks on a dodgy knee, wearing underneath tubigrip and occasionally moving around to a different position. No noticable difference at all.
Glad it has helped other people - though I suspect it is largely a placebo effect, especially when people say they feel immediately worse once they stop wearing it.
Well, whatever works works, so I cant knock it, if it works for some even if it's placebo. If you are in pain it is worth a try for just a few quid and it is quite discreet to wear.

The unit was reducing his pain as it came back as soon as he stopped using it. So he is back to wearing it every night. He did say that he that the contact points with the skin were a little sharp because the point of contact on the ankle he was using had no flesh. If it were to be used on a more fleshy part of the body it would not cause any problem. For that reason he would give it 4 stars.

1.0 out of 5 starsNo noticeable effect

ByDebsVINE VOICEon 6 November 2011

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

I gave this to a family member to test as she suffers from arthritis and cannot take most of the painkillers normally prescribed. I tested it on myself first to check that there were no nasty side effects like electric shocks, and can confirm that it was perfectly safe with me - I didn't even know I had it on. Of course the down side of the fact that it was entirely unnoticeable was exactly that - when my family member tested it, the supposed effect was entirely unnoticeable. There was no perceivable effect with these, positive or negative, so I couldn't recommend them.

Not a magic wand but worth a go..

ByJim Pikeon 25 May 2015

I was a bit skeptical about this but as it was on offer I thought it would be worth a punt. Having tried it out on several members of the family one of whom suffers constant pain, it has to said that it actually works ... it's not a magic wand, won't miraculously whisk pain away but I'm told that it does have an effect which makes chronic pain more bearable. It has a more pronounced effect on lesser pain. So much so that I haven't managed to try it myself ..

Admittedly I was a bit of a skeptic but thought I'd give the iHeal a try. I was surprised to find that it actually worked negating the placebo effect which I'm sure does play a bit of a role. I have a few ache's which wouldn't be resolved by a placebo so am quite convinced that it does as prescribed. With a bit of patients and belief it definitely is worth a try.

Thanks to Amazon for the great service.

Amazing - I found some benefit after 1st 4 hours. I continued use daily for 3 weeks and my back pain (which I've been suffering for years) appears to have gone away. I've also used this on an athiritic hip and had great relief - although this isn't such an easy joint to treat because of the size / area and difficulty knowing where to apply the device - I will continue to apply daily as I am sure it is helping.

4.0 out of 5 starsVery useful pain relief aid

ByD. PearceVINE VOICEon 17 January 2012

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

I have had experience of this kind of pain relief system before, so I knew what to expect from something near the top of the range. This HoMedics product is as good a home pain relief system as I have come across. It works quite quickly and the effects are long lasting - in this case up to 12 hours. The only downside to the product is the attachment options. The adhesive patches are not particularly useful unless there is no chance of brushing the machine, so you cannot use them if you are going to be in any way active. The band is good, but I have quite thin legs and the band only just fitted. Anyone with muscly legs or large legs would find it too tight. In conclusion then, if you can fit it on comfortably this is an extremely good piece of equipment.

Just had this little gizmo for 24 hours. Using it for tendonopathy in my ankles (running injuries). It's too early to say how well it works but I am hopeful.

In the meantime, just a thought on the issue of keeping it in place. The wrist strap does work well as an ankle strap too - but it became irritating after a few hours. The sticky pads work up to a point - but of course will run out quickly with regular use. It then dawned on me to use micropore tape! This method works like a treat for me! Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

Having used this on bruised wrists, cold aching hands and swollen joints, I have to say that so far this little machine is working brilliantly. It's not an instant cure, but over time the effects are noticeable. Sometimes it stings when it first gets going, especially if my hands are cold, but after a while it's worth it.

Small, compact, useful and simple to use, whether it's applied by the strap or the stickers. Don't expect miracles, but it can help more than you might expect.

5.0 out of 5 starsBrilliant little device!

Bymikeon 13 May 2015

I was a little skeptical that the iheal would actually help my back, I've had lower back pain for 9 years, I had physio every week for nearly a year, acupuncture, lotions and potions, painkillers, nothing has worked over that 9 year period until now. I started to notice the pain lessen after a full week of using the iheal every night, by the second week my pain had nearly gone. I made the mistake of not continuing with it and the pain returned relatively quickly, so I now use it every night and my back feels 99% better, I've even purchased additional units so I can use them for alternative locations. My partner has had sciatic nerve pain in his bum cheek all down the back of his leg, again after a week the pain had gone, he stopped using it the pain returned within two days, so he is back to using it every night and can't believe how well it works. They state to use it for around 3 months until the problem area has healed, so stopping and starting treatment is not advised. I'm not entirely sure how the device works and I always thought EMF was dangerous but from reading a lot of research PEMF works in a much lower frequency which has found to be beneficial for your body, so don't think you are sticking a mini power substation on you or a mobile phone, it works on a completely different wavelength. I'm now thinking it's that good that I might save up for a full mat to treat all my aches and pains but they are really expensive compared to the iheal. I would definitely recommend the iheal.

This tissue repair does work, no doubt about that. However one point I think some buyers might need to think about for their own use and it is this. If your pain generates from major surgery or severe pain as mine does it will not have the same effect as say for example carpel tunnel syndrome. I can see it would work on the perfectly well. I think it is a good buy, all I want to ensure for patients in agony, this will not be strong enough for you. It makes sense, see how tiny it is. So glad it works for so many, pain ruins lives, use it for moderate pain but not extreme pain, fair review I think as I have tried many times to use it.

I constantly suffer with arthritic pain around my joints.
I decided to try this product and I attached the device to the areas that were painful.
At first I felt no difference but after a few days of persisting with the therapy I started to feel some relief.
It seemed to be less painful, not completely gone but more tolerable.
However it is a tiny device and can only cover a small area at a time.
I will definitely keep on using the unit; because over a period of time I am sure that I will feel the difference.
The device is safe to use regularly and it can offer some sort of comfort.

5.0 out of 5 starsIt works (for me) !

ByRita Gibleton 17 December 2012

I bought this on a day that I was being driven mad by lower back ache. By the time it arrived (only a couple of days later) I had taken a trip to the physio and my back ache was much reduced. So, I opened the box and promptly ignored this little gizmo for several weeks.
My lower back pain is a side effect of osteo arthritis in the hips ( a full hip replacement is needed) and I have found analgesics to be ineffective. Last week the pain returned and so I decided I would give this bit of kit a bash until I could get to see the physio. And...it worked! Within a few hours I was feeling much less pain (probably back to the level of discomfort) and was able to sit comfortably at my desk. Within 24 hours the pain had disappeared. I did keep the unit on all day, overnight and all the following day, although I think the instructions advise up to 10 hours per day, and removed it only to take a shower.
I found the sticky pad did stick and I managed to get 2 days use out of 1 pad.
Having found it helpful in treating my back pain I lent it to a friend who twisted her ankle yesterday morning and had a nasty bruise forming on the top of her foot. She was unable to put her weight on her foot when she went to bed last night and was expecting it to be worse this morning. However, she has rung me to say that her foot is much better today and she has been able to walk on it ... and will it be ok if she has it for one more night. So, it seems to have worked for her, too.
I'm sure this won't work for everyone and I was skeptical that it would work for me, but it does work for me and if you can get it at a good price I reckon it's worth a punt.

4.0 out of 5 starsI'm usually sceptical about these things, but it works surprisingly well

ByNeilVINE VOICEon 27 February 2013

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

I've read various articles about pulse technology as a healing mechanism and was initial sceptical about the effectiveness of this device.

But, after using it a few times, I've changed my mind.

The device itself is small and can sit under clothes without being too obtrusive. It comes with patches that are used to stick it to your skin, although micropore surgical tape (as suggested by others) or even a strap is just as good to hold it in place if you don't want to purchase additional patches. It also feels quite sturdy and the batteries last for a reasonable amount of time (I've used it several times and the original batteries are still going strong).

I started to use this after heavy gym sessions (tight muscles) and when I had strained myself on occasion. When in place and switched on, I did feel that it made a difference, although it's sometimes hard to tell as the body's natural healing process is also at work. Did it speed up the healing process? Yes, I think it does - it usually takes 3-4 days for my muscles to relax/repair, it was at least 1 day faster when I used the iHeal. And would it help an recurring problem (e.g. arthiritis)? Yes, I think it would whilst switched on, although I'm not sure how good it'll be once you switch it off.

Overall, I would suggest it's worth trying. I'm still experimenting and am overall quite pleased with the difference it's making.

I would say within roughly an hour of applying this little beauty, the pain had lessened significantly, and within an afternoon had disappeared altogether.

1.0 out of 5 starsAvoid this, read on to see why

ByMistweaveon 17 October 2012

Verified Purchase

I purchased a HoMedics iHeal unit a couple of weeks ago and although the unit itself seems as though it may be of help, the adhesive patches that are used to attach the unit to the skin are more or less useless. I know the adhesive patches are meant for one use and I am not trying to use them more than once, but from new they hardly stick, even though I have cleaned my skin carefully and dried it thoroughly before even attempting to use them. On top of this the price of the adhesive patches is very high, even if they did work as HoMedics claim they do, but as they don't stay on for more than a few minutes they really are not worth buying in my opinion.

In my view this makes the HoMedics iHeal unit a pointless purchase because without the adhesive patches you cannot keep the unit attached for anywhere near the length of time you need to in order for it to help you, because it needs to be kept on and in place for several hours. The unit does come with a wrist strap but this is only useful for using on a wrist, I suppose if you have a wrist problem it might be worth a try.

I contacted HoMedics about this issue and they replied "I am sorry to hear of the issues you are currently having with our patches, I understand your dismay with the product. Please can you confirm where you are using the product as if it is on a joint e.g. elbow, behind knee etc. it will be near impossible for the patches to work correctly."

I have to say after I received this email from HoMedics I was really cross because the box the unit comes in shows pictures of people using the unit on - yes you've guessed it, elbow, knee and ankle!

I was actually trying to use the unit on my neck and lower back, both locations are also shown in pictures on their box, but it won't stick properly, or for more than a few short minutes, in either place.

The information that comes with the unit gives a list of conditions that they say the iHeal can be used for and includes a number that specifically affect the joints e.g. tendonitis, carpel tunnel syndrome, arthritic inflammation, sports tendon injuries, repetitive strain injury, tennis and golfers elbow, as well as many other conditions. Since many of these locations are on or near joints, by their own admission this product will not work correctly, as it won't stay stuck.

I suggested to HoMedics that the unit should be being sold with a strap that would hold it in place on all the major joints, as this is where many people will need to treat. Also the adhesive patches should have been made of a substance/material that would allow them to stick properly; otherwise the unit is just a disappointment and raises a person's hopes for healing and pain relief but does not deliver.

My conclusion is that the iHeal unit is not worth buying because the adhesive patches evidently don't work as they should and HoMedics apparently have no remedy for this.

5.0 out of 5 starsAmazingly small, but hoping good things come in small packages!

ByHEL476on 30 September 2012

Verified Purchase

Arrived quickly as ever. It came in a small box, which contains clear instructions, 2yr guarantee leaflet, packet of 96 stickers to stick it to your skin, screwdriver for changing batteries & the device which is no more than 2 inches in size. It has the batteries preinstalled. Also has a strap to attach it to, if you are using it in area that the small strap fits, (wrist/ankle/knee maybe) Device looks smart & neat.

I used it by attaching it to the strap & then putting over my ankle, where I have had discomfort for a while. Then just turned on the slider & the green flash tells you it is on.

Slept in it & removed after 10 hours (The maximum time advised)It doesn't hurt or pulse or vibrate so I slept fine with it on. The instructions advise at least 4 hours per day, every day for best healing results.

Today I have attached it to my lower back, been suffering with mild aches/twinges with one of the stickers (strap too small for back use) & I will see how it goes.

It is too early to say whether it will work, but I will update this review soon. I have ordered a pack of 12 CR2025 batteries for less than £3 on here, it needs 2 at a time, which last up to 200 hours so not expensive. I feel it is well worth trying. It is pain free, safe & easy to use and I can get on with my day. First impressions seem good as do many of the reviews on here.

5.0 out of 5 starsBest Xmas present ever

ByCherylinson 30 December 2012

I have been suffering from PF for seven long months. So much so that I had to use a cane all the time to hobble around. My daughter bought me this for Xmas and the improvement is fantastic. I stick it under the heel at night and it stays on well with help of a sock and in daytime re- position it behind the heal again with a sock. The cost of batteries and sticky pads is minimal compared to what I had spent on other 'cures'

I got this today on my first day back from holidays, I have a Bicipital Tendonitis (symptoms is a sharp pain in the shoulder as you do pull ups, swim or play tennis).
To cut the story short I stuck it to my arm at the line between shoulder and bicep and it already feels better after a couple of hours only.
Mind you this is my first day of use, i'll probably follow-up with more on it later.

Battery life is awesome too.

4.0 out of 5 starsMy Secret Saviour

ByFrostyon 14 January 2013

I have M.E. which has meant a lot of pain in my neck and shoulders. I've previously tried physio, ibuprofen tablets and gels and TENS, all with mixed results and varied irritations related to their use (sticky gels and upset tummy). When my husband saw an article for electro-magnetic therapy, and was thinking of buying a more expensive machine to help me, we had to weigh up the desperation for a 'cure' with the hefty financial outlay on something that might not work. Then we saw this Homedics version & we decided to give it a try. I have to say that I was a bit dubious about the size of this unit being able to have any impact at all. Even when I stuck it to my upper shoulder, turned it on and felt nothing I had my doubts. But, after 6 hours of wearing it the pain had certainly lessened; after 8 hours there was no noticeable pain at all and I had much better movement in my neck; after 12 hours I took it off and had the best nights sleep I've had in months. It hasn't 'fixed' my pain yet but I've only had it one day and today my ankle needs it more than my neck.

So why my 'secret' saviour? Well, it's small enough so it doesn't get noticed, it sticks where you put it, it doesn't pulse and distract you. It just silently gets on with the job.

5.0 out of 5 starsSpeedy Recovery

ByHarvey Don 8 November 2013

My Physio gave this to me to try when I was suffering from bad shin splints. I used to get them so bad after running that the inside of my lower shin would swell up, next to the shin bone. I put this on as described in the instructions and the swelling and pain appeared to go a lot quicker than without it. It didn't cure my shin splints but it did seem to heal them up a lot quicker than without it.

Read a few negative reviews about pain relief which is not what this is for. This is to help heal. And for me, it seemed to work.

After 2 years of on/off shin splints, I appear to have got over them but I will keep this device as I did find it helpful when I got them quite bad and you never know when it will come in handy again.

2.0 out of 5 starsJury currently out

ByJ. H. BrettsVINE VOICEon 19 November 2011

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )

iheal is small, neat and easy to use. The adhesive pads provided work well to hold it in place and are reasonably easy to remove. Once in place, the device is small enough to be unobtrusive once covered by clothing. I did not find it uncomfortable or irritating in use.

About its effectiveness... The jury is currently out. Wearing it for around 5 hours a day for 6 days - produced little or no effect on my chronic back pain. I am willing to believe that it may promote healing of shorter term conditions, or that, had I persisted for longer, it might have helped me more. I want to believe that it will help and will give it another go.

4.0 out of 5 starsBatteries Dead on Arrival

Bought this from Amazon and the batteries were dead on arrival as the unit was in the on position in the box! £6.95 later for a set of batteries it is working, although how effective it is time will tell!

I followed the 'contact seller' instructions and guess what...Amazon is the only seller in the list that you can't click on their logo in the "x new and used" section to contact! Hence, I can't find a convenient way to communicate this problem and having to leave the feedback here!

Amazon - if you read this and care, send me a set of batteries to replace the dead ones!!!!!

I have been using my iHeal for about a month now, sometimes on my leg and sometimes my back. Although other reviewers had said it was only the size of a walnut, it still seemed very small when I unpackaged it. That being said it does appear to be helping improve my pulled muscle in my thigh. So far I have only used it during the night as I find that the most convenient. Once taped on I have been totally unaware of its presence.

I like this little unit - I think it does help when I get shoulder or back ache. But BEWARE - when you run out of the double sided adhesive patches Homedics want to charge £9.99 PLUS £3 postage for another 48 patches. And if you use the unit often then they don't last all that long. By comparison, you can get 12 replacement batteries for £3.20 on Amazon INCLUDING postage and they last a long time.
