What is the MAD-1?

The MAD-1 is the most advanced and effective Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field Therapy unit, (PEMF therapy unit), available at any price!

More than five years of research, development and testing went into producing the MAD-1 and specifically into making the MAD-1 tiny and extremely effective.

The importance of making the MAD-1 tiny

There are two very important reasons why we spent more than five years perfecting the advanced micro electronic technology that is the MAD-1

  • Firstly, our own research and that of a recent NASA study both found that it is sustained PEMF treatments that provide the most effective form of treatment when dealing with tissue regeneration. For this reason the MAD-1 needed to be tiny, so that it could be worn in almost any situation and provide sustained treatment for tissue injuries in a comfortable and convenient manner, whilst still maintaining an optimum therapeutic power output. Large and hand held units are limited in their effectiveness because they cannot provide these sustained treatment times.

  • Secondly, the MAD-1 was developed as a genuine and complete replacement for traditional acupuncture needles.
The small size and ease of use of the MAD-1 overcomes all the limitations of both traditional needle treatment and of other types of hand held acupuncture point stimulators.
The PEMF wave that the MAD-1 generates not only produces the same therapeutic effects as the insertion of acupuncture needles, but considerably improves upon it, both in efficacy and consistency of treatment. Combine this advantage with the fact that  you can treat yourself wherever, whenever, as frequently and for a long as you require and may start to understand why the MAD-1 provide truly stunning results in the treatment of a wide range of disorders via acupuncture points.

How does the MAD-1 work?

The MAD-1 produces a very specific and focused form of PEMF wave (pulsed electromagnetic wave) which penetrates deep into the body. This wave type (shape, frequency and power) produces several critically important benefits for the area of the body that is being treated.

When this type of PEMF wave passes through any conductive material, such as the tissue cells of the human body, it generates a tiny electrical 'charge' (voltage difference) between the cells that are being treated, this causes and increase in cellular communication and activity. Because the tissue salts in our body all carry an electrical charge, the PEMF wave causes an increase in the movement of these vital tissue salts, and oxygen, in and between the cells, which has the effect of increasing the performance of the cells in the treated area. The treated cells regenerate and repair quicker, up to four times faster than normal (according to a recent NASA study on PEMF).

The type of PEMF wave that the MAD-1 produces, also causes a significant arteriole vasodilatation in the treated area, which provides an all important increase in blood supply, which helps to rapidly reduce inflammation and speeds up regeneration of damaged cells.

The MAD-1 and Acupuncture point stimulation.

The MAD-1 was initially developed to be the first device ever, to GENUINELY replicate the effect of the insertion of acupuncture needles into the body.
Research into the MAD-1 began because of the vast number of people who suffer from serious and debilitating disorders, who have found that acupuncture provides the most effective treatment for their conditions. However, many of these people had found that although acupuncture was extremely effective, they simple could not afford an adequate amount of treatment, as the effects of acupuncture tend to be very short-lived. In fact, tissue injuries and most emotional disorders need to be treated on a daily basis for the treatment to be really effective and to produce lasting changes.

This state of affairs left many people having to resort to drugs, with all their associated side effects and health implications.
It was obvious to us that we had to find a way of making the undeniable effects of acupuncture available in a form that could be readily utilized, where, when and in the quantities that it was required.
We began by testing the numerous acupuncture point stimulators that were on the market and found them to be either completely ineffectual or actually detrimental for most conditions and particularly for people with emotional disorders, usually making the patient actually feel more agitated and stressed. Some of the stimulators did have an effect on pain conditions, but produced none of the other therapeutic effects that are associated with traditional acupuncture. This was perhaps not surprising as most of them worked in the same way as a TENS machine, that is, they applied a direct electric shock to the surface of the skin.
It became very apparent, that what we needed to do next was find out what was actually happening in the human body when an acupuncture needle was inserted into it, so that we could find a way to precisely replicate the effect. We did not set out to become involved with, or to resolve, the much debated issue of exactly how traditional acupuncture treatments produce all the far reaching therapeutic effects that they do. We just wanted to find enough data on what was happening around the inserted needles, so that we could accurately reproduce the effect of it.

Intercellular Communication; the foundation of life itself.

Much of the cellular communication that takes place inside the human body is instigated by ‘charged ions’ passing from one cell to the next. We wondered whether this 'cellular communication', was what the acupuncture needles were actually effecting, so we set about devising ways of measuring the tiny electrical changes that take place inside the body. Using specially coated needles and very sensitive equipment we found that a small voltage was indeed being generated between the tip of the needles and the surrounding tissue deep inside the body.
We went on to observe that this voltage generally took only 4 to 6 minutes to reduce to zero, but if the needle was inserted slightly deeper into the body then the voltage difference would immediately reappear and then decline in exactly the same way as before. This would explain why a needle has to be frequently adjusted during acupuncture treatments for it to provide a really effective treatment. We also found that the more tender an acupuncture point was, the higher the voltage that was generated between it and the surrounding tissue. This was also very important as we had already found during our trials that the most tender acupuncture points were the ones that usually provided the most effective treatment.

The tiny voltages that acupuncture needles generate inside the body inevitably produce a sustained flow of charged ions, which then produces chemical changes inside the cells.
We investigated the possibility of replicating the beneficial effects of acupuncture by directly applying these very low voltages to tender (active) acupuncture points. However, this approach proved to be ineffective or actually counter productive in some instances!

We tried every wave shape, frequency and voltage range imaginable, but none produced the desired calming and balancing effects that were produced by the insertion of a needle, in fact quite the contrary. When we tried using really low voltages of the magnitude developed by the insertion of a needle, there were no discernable effect, whilst increasing the voltage left the recipient feeling anything but relaxed and centred!

Solving the problems

The problem was that however you applied a direct electric force (shock) to the body, however tiny, it was always a ‘forced’ voltage between two points on the surface of the skin, unlike the needle which induced a flow of charged ions between itself and the surrounding tissue, at a very specific location INSIDE the body.
It was now obvious that we needed to find a way to actually induce the required tiny voltages deep inside the body without using a needle or penetrating the skin.
After a great deal of experimenting, we found that subjecting the body to an electromagnetic pulse of a very specific wave shape, we could accurately induce the desired voltages deep within the body, which in turn recreated the desired therapeutic effects of inserting a needle.
We spent a great deal of time experimenting with the frequency, wave shape and strength of the electromagnetic pulse that we were using, and we discovered that all these parameters needed to be kept in a very narrow range if they were to provide an effective treatment.
To our genuine surprise we found that we had developed a device that was actually far, far more effective at treating emotional disorders and damaged tissues than even the very best traditional acupuncture treatment. The reasons why the MAD-1 is so much more effective, is that the output of the MAD-1 is set at an optimum level, unlike the traditional needle which produces far too much effect when it is initially inserted, but then rapidly declines so that it is producing far too little effect for most of the treatment. In addition to this the MAD-1 provides convenient treatments that are as long as you need  and where and when you need them! Also, the specific wave shape, frequency and power output of the MAD-1, produces an additional calming effect on the systems of the body helping you to feel relaxed, centred and at ease.

What is the difference between a magnet and an electromagnet?

Magnetism.
When a metal has been magnetised it exhibits the attraction and repulsion towards other magnets that we can feel if we hold two magnets close together. Magnets only have strong effects on other magnets and have minimal effects on non-magnetic substances, which includes the cells you are made up of.

Therapy magnets, however well they are marketed, are identical to the magnets you use to stick notes to your fridge!
A static magnet cannot "pulse" , they can only vary in the strength of their magnetic field, which is measured in gauss. All magnets are 'reverse pole' i.e. they have a north and a south pole.  A "unipole" magnet is the word used to describe a group of magnets all aligned to face the same way, they still all have a north and a south pole.

Electromagnetism or electromagnetic force

Electromagnetic forces are measured in wavelengths which can be extremely variable ranging form waves that can be thousands of kilometres down to wavelengths of a fraction the size of an atom. To start to understand electromagnetism it is organised into something called the Electromagnetic Spectrum, which categorises the huge variety of electromagnetic forces there are in the universe.

All the forces involved in interactions between atoms can be traced to electromagnetic force including the intermolecular forces between the individual molecules in our bodies.

For the human race, one of the most important qualities of electro-magnetic waves are that they impart an electrical 'charge' to the substances that they pass through. All our electricity, both in our bodies and that comes out through the sockets in your home are produced by electromagnetism.
